Would you like to feel the wind gently blowing on your face and having your raven hair fluttering behind your head? Ah.....reminds you of those bygone days when you were paddling that ramshackle bicycle along the beach front. But you are now seriously in your careers and you are now remote from the beach. So, what is the next best thing to do to relive those care free moment? How about roller skating then?
Here are six good reasons for your consideration.
1) Roller skating is one of the most complete exercise that will give all parts of your body a workout. Every muscle will get a chance to exercise.
2) It helps you burn off fats and trim down cellulites. Strenuous exercise on the roller skates for two hours will easily burn off three hundred calories. When you roll at ten mph, the slight wind breeze blowing across your body will take away body heat. Your sweat will be efficiently blown away, thus giving you that cooling effect.
3) Roller skating together with your love ones will evoke a sense of romantics that is hard to come by if you are partaking with the present crop of sports like bowling, swimming, and tennis. For the elderly, it would bring back those memories when they first skated together as sweet hearts in those rustic rural back yards long time ago.
4) Roller skating will greatly reduce your stresses. When you take to the rolling track, the little effort that you put in to push yourself forward has the effect of distressing away all those blues. Envision yourself surfing like the seagull, stretching your arms and legs to catch every little air current, and ride effortlessly onwards, and eject away your stresses. If you do it in a pair, holding hands of each other, you will feel as if you are not alone anymore in this world. You will forget about your worries in no time.
5) Skating will give you control of your legs and backs. Regular exercises will reduce the amount of body back pains, as well as reducing bone joint stiffness. Ankle and knees become suppler, so people will walk with a more comfortable gait.
6) Skating, whether on ice or on land will is less impact on the bone joints as compared to other impounding sports like running and soccer. With less impact on the bone joints, problems like arthritic pains will be reduced when one ages.
Another good reason to put on your roller skates is the positive effect on the mind. If you need to put yourself in a creative mood, try roller skating at a slow pace at the indoor rink. I have many times conceived great ideas whilst rolling along care freely. If indoor roller rinks are not available at your place, try skating at recreational parks or the beach. If possible, do it when there are not too many people around because too much noise will disturb your meditative state. Well, go out and rediscover the good old roller skates that many of us have forgotten about, and bring back that gently blowing air breeze and let your hair churn down one more time.
