The Nokia Corporation, which produces Nokia cell phones, is a company that includes many different nations. It is focused mostly on the growth of wired and wireless telecommunications pieces. Currently, Nokia is at the top of its field, being the largest manufacturer of cell phones. The company has a market share of nearly 38%. It makes different cell phones for different areas, and also makes different pieces of telecommunications technology to enable to running of the phones that the company makes. The company of Nokia was actually started in 1865, as a wood pulp mill. The company got its name during its second relocation, which was to the town of Nokia, but the Nokianvirta River in Finland. The first major company to join with the Nokia company was Finnish Rubber Works, which bought the company at the same time that it bought the Finnish Cable Works. The Nokia Corporation was born of these three companies in 1967. At that time, the company was mainly focused on telecommunications equipment for the telephone. Before the age of 1967, the company was concerned with bicycles, care tires, footwear and computers. However, with the beginnings of the cable networks and communications networks, the Nokia Company turned towards that type of work in the late 1960s. In the 1970s, Nokia became even more involved in the entire telecommunications network by developing the Nokia DX200, which was a digital switch for telephone exchanges. This broadened into world wide use, and into technology. Although the first mobile phones were not put out until the 1980s, the Nokia Company was involved with military and radio communications starting in the 1960s.
However, the
pay as you go mobile phones, which are what they are most known for today, began with gust in 1982. This was when Nokia introduced its first car phone, which was called the Mobira Senator. In 1984, the Mobira Talkman was launched, which was the first transportable phone in the world. In 1987, Nokia also introduced the world's first handheld phone, which was called the Mobira Cityman 900. The Senator had weighed 21 pounds, and the Talkman weighed in at 11 pounds. However, the Cityman was only 28 ounces, which made it much easier to hold. However, it cost about 24,000 Finnish marks, which was 4,560 Euros, or more than 8,000 dollars. Even though these first phones were very expensive, they were an instant hit. In fact, they became a status symbol very quickly. People seemed very excited to have this new technology, and Nokia
mobile phone deals was at the forefront of it. No matter what the price was, people were snatching up the phone as quickly as they possibly could in order to have not only it, but the status that seemed to go along with it.
