I am a retired senior citizen from Australia and now living in France. What a wonderful place that is - but that is the subject of a book that I can feel coming on. That book will be about travelling in France. And there may well be another book on French food & wine, but that will come later after I have sampled more of it.
But back to internet marketing.
I think I have become hooked. My wife certainly thinks so. It is very easy to get motivated and excited about online marketing, especially when one reads the stories about the insane amounts of money being made by lots of people. There is no doubt the internet provides golden opportunities for people to sell products and provide a service. The really important thing is to find a market niche that you can successfully make your own.
So my journey has begun.
There are so many things you need once you seriously decide to market products or services online.
You need a website....
You need a domain name....
You need somone to host it....
You need an autoresponder...
You need to develop a certain amount of technical knowledge (despite what some people try and tell you)....
You need to develop the content for whatever it is you are selling....
You need to get traffic to your site....
You need to have some methods of processing payments....
You need to develop detailed knowledge of different marketing methods...
You need resources....
So it soon becomes a very confusing picture as you trawl your way around the net and are confronted by a bewildering array
of offers to sell you e-books, software, templates, graphics, ready-made websites, video sets, coaching courses and many more.
In fact, you could very easily spend a lot of time and a considerable amount of money and end up very confused and without a functioning business that is making you money. Many of the products you bought, convinced by their very clever sales copy, will be gathering digital dust on your hard drive. (That last phrase was part of someone's sales copy)
But don't let me turn you off entirely.
Although I am new to the area, I am experienced enough through my years in the business world, to know that the opportunities really are there and you simply need to find the most efficient and effective way of tapping into them.
I believe I have done that!
I'm talking about joining a membership site. Now, let's be clear, there are all sorts of membership sites out there and they are not all created equal, so to speak. What you need is a site that gives you all the things I listed above and also gives you peer support through the owner of the site and the other members. And to top it all off - you want that membership for a reasonable cost, usually a monthly fee. A good membership site helps you to build your business. That is what it is all about. Making money is the outcome of a process and that process is creating and building your business.
