These days the younger generation, (that is basically anyone under 30, seems to expect that all you have to do in life to be entertained is to push a button or press a remote, and all your entertainment needs are met.

But what about the old fashioned entertainments? Fishing, gardening, walking, picnicking, BBQ's, swimming, bushwalking, keeping a pet or fish tank, feeding the birds or other wild animals, playing a board or card game etc. It all seems to be lost to the younger generation.

I want to be entertained NOW!, seems to be their motto. From computers, to video games, from DVD's to movies to TV programmes on 300 odd channels in your own bedroom. Unless it's available at a moment's notice it's to long to wait for it.

Yet this generation is the one that we have helped bring into the world. So I guess the blame has to sit at least partly with us older people. The one's who can still remember doing these sorts of things before TV and video games were the norm.
