The First Efficient Matter

The first cause explains the existence of everything. Aquinas considers God to be this first cause. The first cause does not prove that God exists; it is only supposed to be God. Speaking about Aquinas’s theory, is it possible not to put matter in God’s place and state that there is an efficient cause? The theory about the existence of matter is as plausible as the theory about the existence of God. Matter is finite, having no beginning and end. In fact, the theory about the matter is an easier idea to believe in the existence of God. The question of the belief is rather disputable as everyone has his own idea of God, but almost everybody understands the idea of matter. Matter is around us, people interact with it every day moreover, everything consists of the matter. So, the understanding of matter is not trivial as it may seem from the first sight. Matter can be associated with something, while God is regarded as something abstract.
The properties of matter can be used as the suitable conclusion of Aquinas’s theory of God. There is no need to explain what God is and no place may be given for God in the discussion of the nature of matter. Hence, the best explanation is that God does not subsist as the first cause.
Not only matter is the easiest idea to understand what God is, it is also a great dive of belief to consider everything as the first cause. On the other hand, if there is a concept that everything has its first efficient cause, why God is supposed to be that very cause, as God is the most abstract? Matter may be even more suitable to fit in the explanation of the first cause, because people have better understanding of matter than of God.
