"Our passions are the winds that propel our vessel. Our reason is the pilot that steers her. Without winds the vessel would not move and without a pilot she would be lost."

There once was a woman, who worked very hard in her job. She had gone to college in an area of interest and got a job working in her chosen field. She had a good husband and they had 2 wonderful children. Life was good in her adult years, but she found herself feeling like she was just on the treadmill of life. She got up every morning, went to a job that she liked but where she longed for a break, a long awaited vacation. She had lost most of her hobbies, due to the time restraints of working many hours at the her job, balanced with trying to take care of and spend time with her family. The dreams this woman had talked about in her youth (travel, starting her own business, becoming classical pianist, etc)) were still in the back of her mind, but only faintly. She had a successful life by American standards (income, job, home, family, etc), but she did not jump out of bed in the morning: she did not have a spring in her step and she seemed to carry a high level of stress. In essence, she was happy, but not really . This is a story of a woman with a great life, but of a woman who is lacking .

Webster's defines passion as "a strong desire for or devotion to some activity, object, or concept." Passion is not something that is obvious like being a gifted musician, singer, or a talented artist. Passion is not on the conscious level, something you are thinking about or noticing. It is more "energetic" in nature and hard to see. People often confuse passion with purpose. But purpose is like the vehicle you ride because of your passion. Purpose is what you do (ex. writing music, parenting, teaching). Passion is the fuel you need to drive that vehicle. (ex, by creativity, problem solving or helping people). Passion is that internal burning you get inside when you are using your gifts, talents and purpose here on earth. You have passion before you use it, but it is like a candle unlit. It's waiting to illuminate. Passions gets lit when you use your gifts, talents and purpose and results in personal fulfillment and it feels like "you are in the" flow of life", where every thing works together and every thing in your life is filled with joy, contentment and synergy.

Are you living with passion in your life? If not, what's stopping you. Start TODAY, it's never too late!
