Is it necessary to have the Perfect Golf Swing Technique

If you're a golfer then you already know that when you're playing well there's no where you'd rather be then on the golf course, but when things aren't going your way there are at least one hundred other places you'd like to be.

Like no other sport on earth companies flock to manufacture and create training devices to help us improve our swing, to get more distance and accuracy from our shots. Yet I think we have to stop and ask ourselves, do we really need a perfect swing in order to enjoy the game?

Golf Swing Realities

While we all want to critique everyones golf swing, or at least I do, the reality is all the little things we talk about in not lifting our head, turn our hips, keep your arms straight are all to ensure one thing occurs. When our golf club comes through the down swing to make impact with the ball, that club face is perfectly square so that the ball goes straight.

Now I'm not suggesting that you don't need to pay attention to keeping your head down, feet straight and all those other finer points of the swing. How ever what I am saying is that you don't always need the perfect swing to play a half decent round of golf. So with that being said what does it take to develop a good swing?

5 Important Points to Help Hit it Straighter

Here are 5 points in the swing to be conscious of to help ensure you bring that club face square to the ball at impact.

Arms: Try your best to keep your front arm straight. At first it doesn't seem comfortable, but trust me it helps bring the club back square to the ball.

Head: I know everyone says keep your head down, and you should but not to much. Keeping your eyes down on the ball is maybe a better explanation. Ensuring you chin is up enough so that your shoulders can rotate will help with more power in your swing.

Back: Keep your back straight don't hunch over the ball, and bend at the hips for a pivot point. So lean a bit forward but don't change your back keep it straight.

Knees: Knees should be slightly bent for all shots, not a lot but enough that it's noticeable.

Hips: This is a key point in the swing that many people don't do. Come through your swing by turning your hips. More over push your front hip backwards, and turn your back hip forwards so that once your down your swing your belt buckle is pointing towards you target.

So, these are the “finer” points we'll say about helping to achieve a consistent golf swing. You're not going to be swinging the club like Tiger anytime soon, but as this article has tried to get across do you really have to? As you improve your game, you'll enjoy it more.
