I have never met anyone who wants money

That may appear to be a strange statement.
You may be sitting there thinking but everyone wants money!

I coach a lot of people who claim to want money. The problem with their claim is that it is invariably incorrect.

Think about it for a moment, if you had a big pile of money on the table in front of you what would you do?
Would you lovingly caress it?
Would you carefully count it?
Would you clean and dust every coin and note?
Having caressed, counted and cleaned it would you put it safely away until the next time you can take it out?
Would you think only about how you can keep the money you have and hopefully accumulate more?

When I ask most clients about why they want money it turns out they want to use the money to buy something. The last thing they want is a heap of money they are not allowed to use.

You may be thinking to yourself "Well that's obvious - no one wants money they can't spend" But it is important to realise exactly what you want to achieve or else you will set the wrong goals and go about achieving those wrong goals in the wrong way.

If your real goal is to be able to afford a house or a car of a certain standard it is important you concentrate on that and not a pile of colourfully printed paper called money. Money is a tool or a means to achieve a goal it is very rarely a goal in itself.

I have certainly met people who like to accumulate money. But, sooner or later, they get an itch in the palm of their hand that spreads to other, more dubious, parts of their body and they rush out and buy something. Sometimes they feel guilty afterwards, sometimes they get a warm glow of self congratulation as they stroke their new toy or consume something they really should not consume.

There is a well established belief that your life will be filled with the things on which you concentrate. If you concentrate on problems, your life will be filled with problems. If you concentrate on money you may well accumulate money but you will end up with a joyless life and become what most people would call a miser.

To set a proper goal for yourself go through a series of stages if you prefer. First imagine you have won the lottery then imagine what you would do with the winnings - whatever comes into your mind is the first pointer to a real goal.

As I said at the beginning - I have never met anyone who wants money. Perhaps you are one of the very rare people who does want to accumulate and not spend any money on anything. If you are, please contact me, as I would love to talk to you to understand your motivation. In return, I will give you one hour of free coaching on how to accumulate more money if you persuade me that is your only goal.
