Find the right educational summer programs for kids.

Its summer again, and you have planned out fun activities, amusement park trips and other outings for your children. But its also time to plan some serious activity which your child can engage in – a kids educational program which will help hone his talent and skill.

The great outdoors is the ideal laboratory for young minds to explore the world around them, and the summer months offer children more free time to do so. For parents who want to keep learning at the top of their child's summer "to do" list, here are two kids educational program summer activities that your children can do:

TAKE A HIKE: A family field trip or tour of local or national parks brings nature up close. Kids love learning how to read maps, use a compass and discover trail markers along a walk in the woods. Take pictures to preserve new discoveries that can be turned into a child's personal photo journal.

THE SKY'S THE LIMIT: Discovering astronomy is magical for kids and the star-lit nights during summer reveal some of the most dramatic constellations. Take children on an evening planet-and-star watch and try to locate Mars, Venus, Jupiter the Big Dipper, the North Star, and even the Milky Way. You can help them learn more by researching on the Internet and visiting a planetarium.

The fun of the great outdoors can be matched by great indoor activities. Here are two suggestions:

READ FOR FUN: Summer programs for kids must include time for children to immerse themselves in leisure reading. Start a home library of books on nature, science, and histories and great philosophies of the world.

TALENT FROM LATENT: Kids educational programs need not be about books alone. Bring out your child’s latent talent by enrolling him or her in a music school, dance school or drama school. There are other options, too, like drawing, painting and photography!
