Does Hypnosis Work?
"Does Hypnosis Work?" some people will say, "yes, hypnosis does work," others will say, "no, hypnosis does not work," but in the end that is all perception and opinion. In reality, hypnosis is as real as electricity, and most of us don't know exactly how electricity works, we just know that it exists. Hypnosis is a science and it does work due to the fact that it is simply the observation that the mind has the ability to change its brainwaves and enter different mental states. This is proven through our emotions and behaviors. So really, the reason there are so many questions about whether hypnosis does work or doesn't work is because people experience hypnosis in differing ways, and because it is not necessarily congruent between all people who experience it, it will from time to time be considered to not exist.
It is important to understand that the question you want to ask is not "does hypnosis work?" but rather, "how does hypnosis work?" Hypnosis is an experience like any other, and because every single person on this planet is an individual, every person will have an individual experience. A person does not experience riding a rollercoaster the same way necessarily as the person sitting next to them. There will be different things going through their mind, different sensations running through their body, and different images they create in their head and that catch their attention while riding the ride.
Hypnosis is an idea that in very intangible, just like thoughts and emotions. These are all not things that we can see or feel, yet they are without a doubt real in very way possible. Try asking yourself "does hypnosis work?" or "does hypnosis exist?" and then shortly after ask yourself the question, "how do I know my thoughts are real?" or "how does thinking work?" I doubt you will be able to answer either of those questions, but it doesn't matter, because you know deep down that your thoughts are real and that they exist. Hypnosis is just the same, it is even something that we all experience everyday, at least before we fall asleep and when we wake up in the morning. So let yourself be open to what experiences you could possibly have with hypnosis and allow yourself say, "yes, hypnosis does work."
