Have You Got A Business Mentor Yet

Everyone needs someone to lean on and no where more so than in business. All of us in business can benefit from having a business mentor, “don't you agree”. You know someone who has been there, done it and got the tea shirt.
It's great to have someone to share your dreams, ambitions and ideas with. Someone who can give you an honest opinion about your ideas and dreams.

I Don't Need Anyone I Can Do It On My Own!
..........................................
But can you really do it on your own, well sure you can but it would be a hell of a lot easier with a good mentor behind you.
I have a mentor, a chap called Ken Toyer, he's one of the most genuine honest kind men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.
In fact I am not alone because any real businessman worth his salt will seek out a mentor to help them. Or at least model themselves and there businesses on someone who has proven themselves in business.
A mentor can essentially take a huge weight off your shoulders, because in a mentor you have someone who you can not only test your ideas on but also gain a vast amount of experience and wisdom from. They are especially useful for those who are just getting started in business.

What Does A mentor Know That I don't
....................................
Well quite a lot actually because just about all business mentors will have had a great deal of experience in a wide range of aspects in business and will be able to pass this experience onto the less experienced.
That's not to say that mentors know everything, they aren't a font of all knowledge but they often know enough to help you in your business.
Along with bringing a feeling of relief that there is someone on your side a mentor can also help you focus on what is needed, along with helping you pause, take stock and take a step back and make you think about the goals you have set out for you and your company.
There is no greater feeling when in business or starting out knowing you have someone to turn to should you need help.

So What Qualities should I look For In A mentor?
................................................
A good mentor must be able empathise with you and be able to listen to your problems
He or she should offer essential advice which is practical without being judgemental. They should also be able to offer sympathy and support when it is needed and be able to determine the right moment it is needed.
Having experience in the many problems that can affect the small business is also a must, the mentor while giving good advice and allowing others to benefit from their experiences must also be able to take a back seat to some extent and allow others to take responsibility for their decisions.
Being a mentor can be a very rewarding experience while being stimulating and challenging to both sides. However if you choose to be a mentor then there is nothing as rewarding as the small business reaching new heights and knowing that you have helped to get them there.

So Where Do I Find A Mentor?
............................
Well forums are a good place to go to seek out a mentor. There are a lot of small companies on the internet that are run by people who have started at the bottom and worked there way to the top through hard graft, who are willing to mentor people.
To be honest there are mentors all around you; all you need to do is look for one and you will eventually find one that you can connect with.

HERE'S TO ALL MENTORS OUT THERE
