Canon has always had some great cameras and their S series is one of the finest for both experienced and greenhorn photographers. 2 of the less costly ones that you're going to find are the S60 and S70.
When you are comparing camera features, you may find that you are able to save a few bucks by sticking with the S70.
It is only reasonable to presume that some of the features have fallen behind cameras that've been released more lately, but it's still shockingly competitive with cameras that are just a year old or less.
The S70 has a lens aperture of 2.5-5.3 matched against the S60 that has got a lens aperture of 3.3-4.9.

Amazingly enough, the remainder of the features on the camera are very close. The digital zoom, video input, weight, effective sensor resolution and focus are all in accordance with each other. The last exact remaining difference is the display size in that the S70 has a 1.8' screen matched against the 3' screen on the S60.
As you can see, for being over 5 years old, the S70 can still hand with the heavy hitters. While you can see the S60 is the superior camera, the question is that is it really worth the extra $200 that you will need to pay in order to get it? Glance at the features that are most vital to you and you may find that the S70 is still a great value for the money.
