With the number of stress-inducing factors associated with both, balancing business with pleasure is undoubtedly hard. Thankfully, Taiwan-based multinational computer and electronics company Acer has unveiled an efficiency-focused mobile phone packed with entertainment apps that is able to combine beauty without compromising functionality. This all in one device was announced as the Acer neoTouch P400 in this Year's Mobile World Congress.
Windows Inside
The neoTouch does not necessarily carry the most high-end features but there is no doubt that its individual components complement each other well. It runs on a high speed Qualcomm 7227 600 MHz processor and has an installed Windows Mobile operating system version 6.5.3.
Because it is a WinMo device, Windows Live Messaging and MSN instant messaging comes packed by default. Office productivity tools are also present in the form of Microsoft Exchange Server, Mail and a Pocket Office suite that includes OneNote, Word, Excel, Power Point as well as a PDF reader.
Microsoft Bing Search is also provided. This nifty tool gives smart suggestions for four key areas of travel, namely food and health, shopping tips, stores and local establishments and overall trip planning. This certainly streamlines the process and saves users precious time allowing for a more pleasant business (or pleasure) travel.
Office Capabilities
Acer's upcoming smart phone sports a TFT resistive touch screen which is capable of a vibrant 256K color display. It has an average resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. An accelerometer which allows auto-rotate is installed into the mobile phone. This means that if you tilt the phone upright, it will retain a portrait orientation but if you tilt the phone to its side, it will automatically change into a landscape orientation. This is a very nifty feature for those who prefer either for different applications. A digital compass is also provided.
The phone seems to have been intended for business use, and even with average components, the neoTouch P400 does its duties well. It has an easy to use back-up system that can be either web-based or through the automatic wireless synchronization. That makes importing and managing schedules, Contacts, Favorites and transferring documents as easy as a few taps on the screen.
The neoTouch P400 Plays for Keeps
The Acer neoTouch P400 is capable of up to 5 hours of talk time. That means sufficient time to share office success (and horror) stories with your friends. It also has a few great entertainment features for those who do not want a balanced lifestyle.
Windows Media Player 10 is packaged with the new WinMo device. It is capable of playing WMV, MP4, H.264 and H.263 video formats as well as MP3, WMA, WAV, eAAC+ audio formats. It also has a default Stereo FM radio.
A Youtube app installed to the neo not only allows video viewing but also straight video uploads. A compact internet radio app called "Spinlets" is also included with the neoTouch. This app allows streaming and features emerging artists. The best feature of this though is the ability to share and post selected songs to social network sites.
It may not be for spec-conscious people but if you're only concerned with how it performs its intended use, then you're in for a treat. If you're young and busy, you might want to give this smart phone a shot. Expect it to be out this coming May.
