Are you pitching your business opportunity to your personal contact list or to leads you bought online? Most MLM or direct sales companies have a business builder's aid called a memory jogger. It helps you remember every contact so you can make your "warm list" of prospects. This will be your first strategy for building your business.

Next they tell you to buy leads online and call them up. If you had a hot product with a low price and you approach your prospects the right way you would sign a few people up. But after your list runs out where will you turn for leads then?

These methods have major flaws. The personal contact list is limited to your friends and family and the names on the leads list bought online probably have been sold many times before. Some of the numbers may even be outdated and once the list is gone, so is your money if you didn't get any sign-ups.

The right person could make these methods work but I promise you it would take years to build a downline big enough for a good sized residual check. You would also have to endure rejections for years.

This is an industry of networking and that ultimately means you have to build relationships with people. You can better leverage your time by working smart. Use the Internet and automated systems to generate and qualify your leads. Then spend your time working with those who have proven they are serious by taking advantage of the tools and resources your system has provided for them.

This is how attraction marketing works. You position yourself where you can be found online. Learn what works by studying the industry. Supply solutions and aids for your target market like any leader would. If you know something and share it you are a leader because your value has helped others. Being a leader and providing value will cause others to want to join you.

Instead of chasing your leads and being perceived as a pest you attract them to you and are considered a leader. The key is to promote you as a leader and your system as a generic solution for all marketers.

Here is an example:

1. Sign up in my company ABC and make 6 figures in 2 to 4 months.

2. Released: Step by step instructions on how to use my system to build a million dollar business using a limited budget.

Which ad would you rather answer? Ad 2 is generic and explains that you get specific instructions on how to succeed. If someone had tried a different company already then ad 1 would only be offering another problem. Ad 2 offers a solution and would attract more prospects.

1. You should get serious and make your business a top priority instead of treating it as a hobby.

2. You need to become a student of the industry and increase your value to others by investing in personal development and marketing training courses.

3. You should promote your system and your leadership to your prospects instead of your product or business opportunity.

4. Offer solutions to other marketers problems by promoting your system as a funded proposal and that will produce an endless supply of leads for your business.

5. Only promote your product to your new "warm" market which is your prospects that prove their seriousness by working your system and taking advantage of the solutions you provide.

6. Develop the ability to find and work with other leaders in your downline team.

If you can fix others problems you will be growing your downline in the fastest way possible. Promote your primary MLM on the front and you are promoting another problem but offer a solution to other network marketers and they will want to join you because you will be a valuable resource for them.
