Selecting an Experienced Brain Injury Law Firm
Selecting a law firm that is properly suited to handle your legal matter is essential to the outcome of your case. While many lawyers represent clients in a wide array of legal matters it is wise to find a law firm that specializes in cases similar to your own.

If you or a loved one have recently been the victim of an accident or injury make sure you follow these steps to ensure that you are in fact hiring the right law firm to handle your case.

Ask for References
Chances are you have friends or family members who can recommend an attorney or law firm who specializes in traumatic brain injury. Ask as many people as you can and keep a running list of their recommendations. Keep in mind that many of their recommendations might not specialize in cases like your own but you can rule them out later. At this point in the process it is in your best interest to have a number of attorneys and/or firms to research and consider.

Research

Once you have compiled a list of references it is time to research some additional law firms. Use the internet and local publications to find information on additional attorneys in your area with experience representing clients with needs similar to your own. Once you have completed this task you will have an extensive list of candidates. You are now ready to begin researching each of your prospective attorneys. What kind of information is available on each one? Which ones have been involved in high profile cases? Can you find negative commentary on any of them? Which ones have success with cases similar to yours? It is at this point that you should start narrowing your list of options. Use your research to rule out those that do not seem like good candidates and keep notes on those you feel are well suited for your case. You will be able to refer to these notes when making your final decision.

Interview
Once you have a list of the most promising candidates in your area, make an appointment with each. Provide all the details of your brain injury case and ask how each would proceed. Also find out what there success record is with cases similar to your own. Find out what their legal fees will be, ask for references and pay attention to your comfort level with each. After you have completed your interviews, you will have all the information you need to make your decision. Refer back to your research as well as your notes from each interview and be sure to follow your instincts.
