What happens during an anxiety attack? Well these attacks sometimes occur when a person has been in an extreme or abnormal incident such as stress, depression, tension or too much fear. During this time a person can sometimes be turned into a nervous wreck or sometimes come out of it alright and continue on with your life as usual. To be able to avoid an attack a person needs to be able to recognize the symptoms at the onset. Usually an average person can experience the symptoms at some point in their lives but may lot reach the critical level that will cause a panic attack.
Here is what happens during an anxiety attack:
• Your body is trembling, twitching, or shaking
• You have sweating or cold, clammy hands
• Experience extreme tiredness
• Have feelings of fullness in the throat or chest
• Have muscle tension, aches, or soreness
• Feeling breathless or have a rapid heartbeat
• Having lightheadedness or dizziness
• You are feeling jumpy
• Having sleeping problems, insomnia, early waking or restlessness
• May have some chest pains
• Have nausea or an upset stomach
• Numbness or tingling
• A choking feeling
• Chills or hot flashes
• Fear that you are going to die, lose control, or go crazy
• Feelings of being detached from yourself or from reality
There are a few recommended ways to relieve these symptoms but in the end it will all boil down to what the person who is affected is like. If you are unwilling to recognize the issue and do something about it, then no matter what anyone tells you, any effort for treatment will fail. It is the willpower of the individual that will enable them to fight and overcome their difficult situations. Your mind will tell you not to dwell in self indulgence and hopelessness and once that starts to work, you will be able to think clearly and recognize your options.
What happens during an anxiety attack can be some of the scariest things that a person can experience in their lifetimes; some have even compared them to near death experiences. It is losing control over reality that causes the attacks in the first place, that is why learning to control them is crucial to any sufferer who wishes to lead a normal life.
Sometimes it is the fear of another attack that will actually cause you to have one; it is this very runaway anxiety that you must learn to recognize and control if you ever want to stop your panic attacks. Although they feel so real, a panic attack is just your mind creating various scenarios that just may happen; not what is actually happening and eventually you will not know the difference between reality and fantasy and a panic attack ensues. You need to get control of your emotions and here are some useful tips to help with an attack.
1. Stay in control by naming things around you, things you know to be real. If you are in the office note the name of the things you know to be real around you; your computer, your desk, the pictures on your desk, what time it is. You have control over all these things; you know exactly what is going on.
2. Think of things that you can't see at the moment but you know to be real. Think of your family and friends, think when their birthdays are. Go over the alphabet backwards, it does not matter what you are focusing on as long as it is real; don't give in to fantasy.
3. Give the attack a time limit, count backwards slowly for 60 seconds and after that, decide that the attack has run its course and is over. Feeling confident that you have beaten the attack is critical to actually having done so.
