Microsoft Works has been around for more than a decade and for entry level users it seems to be quite sufficient. Filled with more than a borderline word processor the suite does offer functionality at a price that is quite affordable. Whether it's free (or so stated) with the computer system or around $100 off the sales shelf it saves many new computer owners from just staring at the system with nothing to do.
This week Microsoft announced the release of the latest version, Works Suite 2006 that includes an improved version of Microsoft Works 8, Word 2002, Digital Image Standard 2006, Money 2006 Standard, Streets & Trips Essentials 2006 and Encarta Encyclopedia Standard 2006. According to Microsoft the new version updates information contained in mapping and Encarta information, is geared towards the new digital camera age as well as improvements in the software to offer quicker processing functions.
