Cartier is a brand associated with luxury and a unique style that satisfies even the most pretentious customers. Their story begins in 1847 when Louis Francois Cartier who started the company with his own name in the demise of his master Picard. In 1874 Alfred Carties took over the company from his father. His sons: Louis, Pierre and Jaques will turn the company in a global empire.

After the second world war Cartier watches met a high demand especially diamond and sapphire watches. Their ability to create custom watches rapidly in their workshops in Paris, London and New York assured them with a steady stream of request.

When the quartz boom happened Cartier changed their movement to quartz but never restricted their designs. Although quartz was not as special as mechanical Cartier managed to provide such high quality watches that its customers were happy with the change.
