Whether you are redecorating or decorating your house for the very first time, starting with updating the bathroom is not only smart but necessary. If the current bathroom is really out dated it gives you a great chance to start again from scratch rather than to improve on what is already there. Bathroom furniture really is a must to incorporate into your new design as it will look both stunning and be very practical.

Do you remember how boring and sad your grandparents or even great-grandparents bathrooms appeared to you when you were younger. This was because their bathroom had to be practical and nothing else. All it would have had was a toilet, bath and basin. This worked but it didnt look great. There was no chance that there was any type of bathroom furniture in it as they hadnt thought of that in those days. Looks and style played no role in those days, just because the bathroom furniture industry was not creative enough. There was not enough demand for it to be creative, unlike todays bathroom furniture market.

Once we moved the plumbing in our houses from all being on show to hiding it in walls things really began to take shape in the bathroom industry. The first people who started to realise the potential of this were the bathroom furniture manufacturers who could hide all the ugly pipes inside or behind their bathroom furniture. It opened up a whole new world for design.

Over time, our bathroom was made larger and fuller. We now have a variety of things to choose from such as beautifully crafted bathroom furniture, toilets and bathtubs. With these new features, also spawned bidets, urinals and stunning looking shower enclosures. Needless to say that with each piece of bathroom furniture that was also accompanied by a set of accessories.

Let's look at the simple shower. Many years ago it was a square shower tray with a curtain hanging from the ceiling which as well as being quite ugly was not very practical as the curtain would get mouldy due to the damp conditions. The water had to run out into the drain that caused designers many problems. A shower enclosure today is not just a frame and glass, but a bathroom environment and your personality may play an important role. Glass doors and shower trays are elegantly designed with patterns or decals that covers the glass.

The cream-of-the-cream in the bathrooms, is undoubtedly the bathtub. With baths you can really bring out your inner desires. How about a great old-fashioned enamel bath, standing on legs and taps which was quite exquisite. Or, if you wanted to really relax you could have a whirlpool system fitted to get out all those aches and pains. You may be lucky to have enough room to fit a bath made for two!

Do not forget the "throne" or toilet as you may know it better - which of course has had in his own life. Today toilets are in an art. They are available in a wide variety of colours although most people go for white which will match your tub and bathroom furniture, of course. You may have seen some of the different types of seat covers in stores? Some are even made to look like they are full of water and fish have been floating around.

Yes, bathroom furniture really has come into its own. The bathroom furniture evolution was quick and painless. It's a thrill to be able to enter a showroom where it is displayed all over the bathroom. Immediately we know that it could be time for you to update yours!
