What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy, in it's clinical term, is the use of hypnosis to facilitate relief and/or removal of a variety of both physical and psychological conditions.
It is one of the oldest of all healing techniques, having developed from the early use of ‘Sleep Temples’ of ancient Egypt from around 2000BC.
In the Middle Ages, healing through ‘touch and prayer’ was to become the major way of treating disease.
Used by many cultures, over thousands of years, the use of hypnosis is now seeing a resurgence of interest as humanity now looks for alternative and complimentary ways to treat the body and mind.
The modern therapeutic value of hypnosis was recognised in 1955 when the British Medical Association endorsed the practice of hypnosis in medical education.
The actual experience of hypnosis is difficult to describe, but it is a very pleasant state of relaxation, neither asleep nor awake.
All hypnotic states are characterised by this tremendously pleasant state of relaxation, an altered state of consciousness into which individuals allow themselves to enter so that desired and beneficial suggestions can be given to the unconscious, inner self.
Nobody can ever be hypnotised against their will and, even whilst hypnotised, people can still reject any of the suggestions given if they are not appropriate. This is because you will still be aware of everything being said at all times.
It is estimated that approximately 85% of people of all age groups will respond readily to hypnotherapy. It is often successful when other, more conventional methods of treatment may have failed.

Can Hypnotherapy help?

Below is a list of just some of the conditions for which Hypnotherapy is indicated.

Habit-breaking, such as smoking, nail biting, over eating, alcoholism, stuttering, drug abuse and many more.

Assertiveness, self-confidence, sports performance, examination nerves, public speaking, etc
Phobias, compulsions, emotional problems sleeping problems, inhibitions, guilt feelings, jealousy and many of the worries and anxieties of everyday life.

Medical conditions, such as headaches, skin disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, asthma, PMT, blood pressure and more.

Sexual problems such as premature ejaculation, frigidity, inability to reach orgasm and more.

The use of Self-Hypnosis can help prevent and alleviate stress and tensions caused by modern, fast-paced living.

Effective weight control, increased work and study performance, improving concentration, memory and recall, developing the imagination for artistic and creative ability.

Pain control, boosting the immune system, releasing unrecognised talents and abilities, accelerated language learning.

On a more esoteric level, hypnosis is widely used in 'past life regression' sessions, and there are a number of bestselling books on the subject.

There have also, supposedly, been experiments by the world superpowers in hypnosis for the use of mind control and 'out of body' espionage.

Hypnotic regression of witnesses, and victims of serious crimes has also been used for the apprehension of criminals.

The uses and applications of Hypnotherapy are only limited by your imagination, and new ways of using one of the oldest healing methods in the world are evolving everyday.
