If you want to write articles online for money, the goal is quite achievable. The key is to market yourself and find clients to want your content. Almost anyone who can form a simple sentence can earn money writing articles online. In fact, a nice amount of people earn their money online this way, but there are some ways you can get caught up in the web of deceit online. Here are common writing scams to look out for online:
Writing Samples: Many scammers like to play on the good old ‘writing scam' as a way to get a free article. This is when the scammer posts a "writing job" requiring details about the type of writing they want. They then will say in order to get the job; the writer must submit a 300 word writing sample. Okay um, this is called; a free article. There is no reason why any writer should have to write for free. Writing articles is just like any other job that requires hard work and dedication and slavery is over, so people will have to pay. If you have a writing portfolio with your published clippings, then this should be enough for the employer. If it is not, then they should go find another dummy to write their free article.
Writing Internship: This one is my favorite. I see a lot of these floating around on free classified ads such as Craigslist. This is when the scammer says that they own an online magazine ezine (who doesn't?) and is looking for a couple of interns to complete writing task and research for them. Um, why would someone look on Craigslist for a writing internship? People look on Craigslist to find a job, not to do work for free! Plus, if they were a real company that was going to do something for your writing career, why would they actually advertise that they need interns? Like writing for an online blog is going to boost your writing career! Give me a break!
Forums- Online forums are the best place to advertise your writing services and pre written articles. With that, there are also a lot of scammers who lurk in online forums looking for their next victim. Either the writer doesn't get paid or the client will claim the article is not up to his "standards". By the time you are finished tweaking the article, you would be fed up with the whole thing and just give up. By that time, the scammer would have put the article on their website and benefit from the traffic. The whole thing is just annoying and can waste the writer a lot of time.
If you really want to make money online writing articles, just market yourself the good old fashion way; free classified ads, social bookmarking, blogs (mini-sites), and article marketing. The more methods you use to get traffic, the more money you will make online writing articles.
