Countless people take photo's not so much so that they can remember special events or occassions, but becuase it is their overriding passion to make beautiful pictures. These photographers or artists know that you just cannot get the quality required with a compact camera and so choose a quality digital SLR camera and more importantly, the lenses to suit. Not only are the modern digital SLR cameras able to reproduce photographs of extreme quality and clarity, they are becoming much more user-friendly due in part to the wide variety of Camera Digital Lenses now available.

When choosing a lens for your digital SLR camera, however, there are a few criteria to consider.
To begin with you will need a primary or everyday lens and this will usually be supplied with your camera. Primaries are Digital Camera Lenses that do exactly what their name implies: shoot a primary photograph, usually one not in need of a wide-angle, or zoom, or even a super-fast capture rate. The primary lens is the bread and butter, so to speak, of your basic camera setup. As you will likely use your primary lens more than any other, it is prudent to invest in good quality camera digital lenses at the start which will be ideal for portraits, still lifes and general everyday photography. With this in mind, make sure you check out all your options first before making a decision.

Second on many peoples' Camera Digital Lenses wish list is the zoom lens. Dependant on the type of shot you are after, there are a number of zoom lens options open to you, and unfortunately it's not really a 'one size fits all' issue and depends on the distance over which you want to zoom in on your subject. In this instance, bigger is not always better. The greater the zoom you use, the more chance there is of your photographs lacking crispness and focus. Bearing this in mind, it may well be prudent to have a primary zoom lens that has only a normal or short range zoom capability and a second that can take you out far greater distances for those special shots. At least one quality zoom lens is a must for any serious photographer, you will find that most professionals have many more. Again, do your homework to make sure you get the right camera digital lenses for you, size does matter but it's not necessarily the case that biggest is best.

Last but not least on your list of required camera digital lenses should be the wide angle lens. You would typically use a wide angle lens when you just cannot capture your required shot in it's entirety due to either the width of the shot or your limited distance from it.Typically this is the lens you would use when taking panoramic or scenic photographs where you want to capture as broad an expanse as possible. Wide-angle lenses are definitely cool, but are only used for very specific shots.

In a nutshell, with all three camera digital lenses discussed, in your portfolio, you should be able to produce professional quality photos in almost any genre you tackle. Do your research and spend your money wisely because the variety and quality of lenses can be overwhelming. But high quality photographs definitely await.
