--------------------- Keep The Dream Alive -----------------------

Ah...Little League. It's that time of the year again with the
crack of the bat, and thud of the cather's mitt filling the air.
Young boys (and girls) showing their skills on the field while
Dad and Mom, Grandfather, and Grandmother sit proudly in the
stands or hang over a fence thinking "that's my boy".

At times, the parents (and coaches) forget it's all about the
kids having fun, and enjoying this important part of their child-
hood, and can push the kids a bit too far. We hear of Dads
(grown men) getting in arguments, and yes, at times fights, over
who plays where, and who gets to pitch, and when. Who knows,
maybe they have dreams as well for their kids.

Umpires who are paid a few dollars to umpire a game (if the
collection is good enough), find themselves dealing with emotions
on both sides that at times border on the ridiculous. It is quite
hard to umpire a game with a "deer in the headlights" look for
most of the game.

What's it all about? It's about dreams. Dreams of Major League
stardom fill the hearts of the kids even though only a small
fraction of them will ever have the opportunity to play "when they
grow up". They have dreamed in the night of having the winning
hit in Yankee Stadium in the bottom of the ninth in the 7th Game
of the World Series. They have dreamed of hitting a "Carlton
Fisk" shot at Fenway Park around the foul pole while using their
body english to steer the ball back over the Green Monster. They
don't dream about arguing with Umpires. There are no dreams about
Dads and Moms fighting in the stands.

Don't lose your "dream" today! No, maybe you never made it to
the "bigs", but right now you still have the power to dream. You
have been given life and breath, and God still has a plan and
purpose for your life.

What dreams do you have? Have you been discouraged by the
"people in the stands"? Did the "Umpire" make a bad call? Keep
the dream alive, and go for it!
