After being searched, police found a variety of medications, including Xanax, Percocet and Hydrocodone, which were prescribed to another person. Anastasio was approached at a traffic stop by Patrolman Andrew Mija and failed a sobriety test.
Anastasio was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, DWI-drugs, and driving without a license. According to reports, Anastasio was traveling from his current New York home to Vermont.
Since parting ways with Phish, Anastasio has talked at great lengths about his sober lifestyle. In 2005 he told Relix, "I have been fucked up in one way or another for my entire life, so I'm trying my best, simple as that."
