But what is this flat screen TV all about? It is very common these days to see advertisements on television that are more than 50 inches, with HDTV and other features. All these actually refer to one thing; the flat screen TV. This type of TV emerged in the market several years ago as an alternative form of television as opposed to the bulky ones. A while later, rear projection TVs came but did not catch up with the popularity as much as flat screen TVs. This is mainly because a flat screen TV, regardless of what the size or dimension, it is very portable. You can place it anywhere you want, such as on your desk or you can even wall-mount it.
Options
There are basically two different types of flat screen TVs in the market, and both are equally popular, with their own features backing up their popularity. Both TVs are equally light and can be placed anywhere you like. Ranging from 23 inches, some even go up 70 or even 80 inches these days. But relatively, both are expensive compared to the conventional CRT based televisions.
This flat screen TV is basically a 16:9 ratio of screen width to screen height, compared to traditional TVs and nowadays most of them offer HDTV resolution as well. An HDTV type of television can’t be found in smaller sizes as most of them are usually beyond 40 inches.
On the other hand, an LCD flat screen TV ranges from as small as 15 inches up to 70 inches or more. These days this type of television also offers HDTV resolution. HDTV refers to high definition television, in which the picture quality is usually five to six times better than DVD quality.
