The tenth album release for Porcupine Trees is scheduled for a September 22nd release date. "The Incident" is a two disc album, from Roadrunner Records, and is being compared to a musical statement and story of sorts, rather then an album.

While stuck in a traffic jam, Wilson drove past a multi car accident and a sign that read "Police Incident". Wilson thought to himself that this was more than an incident. People have suffered, lives will change and the word "incident" is not strong enough to describe what has happened. This is where his inspiration for the album, "The Incident" came from.

Each song from The Incident album is directly related to a media reported incident trying to bring it into the first person for a more realistic and humanizing perspective of these issues that are life changing and effect people forever and yet are so casually reported by the media. Some of the incidents that are documented in the album include a family that terrorizes a neighborhood, teenage girls being pulled from a religious cult, and a group of people on a fishing trip who find a body floating in the river.

Wilson also included tracks on this album that related to his first love, and his pursuit of a music career. He was excited to write these songs for porcupine Tree, since he has written for them in the past, and they always do wonderful things to the songs that he creates for them.

Porcupine Tree is a Grammy nominated UK group that consists of drummer Gavin Harrison, bass by Colin Edwin and Richard Barbieri on keyboard along with guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer Steven Wilson. "The Incident" has many anxious waiting fans for its release on the 15th of September.
