Restoring my Xbox 360 at home was easier than I might have thought. When the Red Ring of Death at the start appeared I did what probably most gamers do. I screamed and I stomped about the house.

Gaming consoles usually don't break subsequent to you having gained the level, otherwise done the tough sequence, or Lord forbid, beaten the game. I knew there had to be a better, easier solution, one that made more sense for repairing my Xbox 360.

So I decided to comb the Internet, which meant I went searching throughout the gaming forums. I was amazed at what I found. Many of my fellow gamers had already fixed their systems at home using just some very basic tools that they had at home.

There were a few unusual suggestions, together with the much talked about ‘towel fix'. I wondered as most gamers probably did, upon reading about the "towel fix".

If the Red Ring is an overheating problem how would a towel actually repair it? So ignoring such half-crazy advice I found a really awesome repair instruction manual with step by step information for fixing the fault that would get me back to playing games in hours not weeks.

Well, in my book, it was a no brainer- 4 to 6 weeks or 2 to 3 hours. I chose to resolve the fault myself and I am really happy that I did. I saved a lot of money, not to mention all that time I would have had to wait for Microsoft to repair my system and return it to me. Repairing my Xbox 360 took me no less than 2 hours. If you are like me and unwilling to wait 4 to 6 weeks for your Xbox maybe you should consider doing what I did, do it yourself.
