Water Quality Test Are Important, Yet We Still Need To Filter Our Water At Home

Have you ever used a water quality test on the water that comes out of your tap? Do you think it would pass the test? Many dangerous chemicals we use in today's society end up in our water supplies from lawn and field run offs, from toxic waste getting dumped into our rivers and lakes, and scores of other ways.

Even our water companies who do their own water quality test add chlorine to the water to kill the bacteria. Killing the bacteria is a good thing, but it needs to be removed from the water before we use it.

Chlorine was made to kill living things and our cells are one of those things it will kill. Chlorine doesn't know the difference between the good things and the bad, so it will just go after all of the living organisms trying to destroy them.

So even though the H2O coming out of your faucet may have passed the quality test at the water company you still aren't getting pure healthy water when you turn on the tap. Those contaminates can destroy your body over time.

The Environmental Working Group Report, "Weed Killers by the Glass" states, "Weed killers were found in tap water of 28 out of 29 cities tested. The results of these tests reveal widespread contamination of tap water with many different pesticides at levels that present serious health risks. We estimate that 45,000 infants in these 29 cities drank infant formula reconstituted with tap water contaminated with weed killers."

I personally don't know of any parent who would knowingly give their infant weed killer to drink, but in these cases the parents trusted the water quality test from their cities and believed they had healthy water. Unknowingly they were giving their children poison.

Your water company is only required to test for around 120 toxins in their water, and certain types of weed killer aren't on the list. There are over 2100 toxic chemicals in our drinking water supplies that can cause cancer, and not all 2100 are tested for.

It is cost prohibitive for a city to test for all of them. So what should we do?

As consumers we need to purchase a home water filter to protect our health against the dangerous substances not tested for.

We can believe the water quality test the companies report to us, but just because they tell us what toxic matter in the water they remove, that doesn't mean they have filtered out all the dangerous substances in our water supplies.
