Someone once said that prevention is better than a cure and while that holds true, there are many pieces of health advice dispensed by health experts in how we can limit the chances of catching a serious disease like cancer.
Often simple lifestyle changes like stopping to smoke, eating a balanced diet and losing weight are enough to keep your body in optimum health.
Other preventative measures include taking a daily, nutritional or dietary supplement, making doubly sure we're getting the correct amount of minerals and vitamins.
One such ingredient in the supplement that I use is called turmeric. The reason I took some notice of it was in reference to a magazine article I had read, all about using turmeric for cancer prevention.
My knowledge of this herb has increased and I now see it as more than just a spice that I add when cooking my favorite Indian curry dish. It really packs a punch as far as being a superb antioxidant, amongst other things.
The part of turmeric that really helps us is called curcumin, and this needs to be of a high percentage value when comparing turmeric extracts in similar supplements.
Much has been written about how the antioxidants in our diet can help in the fight against a whole host of infections and diseases. Such study material, easily available online in a format that even I can understand, tells me that it has very good cancer suppressing qualities.
Of course, more clinical trials on humans is necessary and whilst that continues, I'll be making sure I take my daily dose of turmeric extract.
