Termidor is Best Pest Control's choice when choosing chemical barriers for termite control. It has been extensively tested, and in test after test it has provided 100% control of termites in 3 months or less.
Seven Good reasons why we use Termidor:
It is one of the most tested termite control products on the market.
It has proved 100% effective in all soil types, and against different species of termites
It has provided unmatched protection on homes in the Australia, USA, Japan and France.
It doesn't leach or move from the treated site. Termidor works in a different fashion from other termite barriers which are repellents to termites.
In other termiticides, white-ants keep trying to find gaps in the barrier to gain entry into the building.
With Termidor termites can forage through treated areas and be unaware that they are contacting the termiticide and will gather it on their bodies and transfer it when they return to the colony.
Termidor lasts more than twice as long as some other termite control treatments as well as killing off termite's colonies and therefore better value for money.
Fipronil
The active ingredient (Fipronil) was approved by the Environmental Protection Agency in the United States to be applied directly on puppies at a concentration nearly 200 times stronger than what we use for termites. Fipronil is topically applied to dogs, puppies (Frontline) and kittens (Startgard Plus for kittens) at 9.7% refer to http://www.apvma.gov.au/gazette/gazette0310p59_v2.pdf, whereas termite controllers apply it in the soil and foundations at the much lower concentration of .06%.
A Bucket of Clay and a Bucket of Sand:
I often use an analogy to illustrate to my client's understanding of termite barriers' chemical dispersion through soil.
You have a bucket of sand and a bucket of clay in front of you.
You pour a glass of water onto both and the water will disperse evenly throughout the bucket of sand. In the bucket of clay the water will not penetrate the clay and stay on top of the surface. Imagine trenching the soil around your home, removing pavers, drilling into concrete, (include paying lots of money) and applying chemical that is not dispersing enough because of clay deposits!
Remember this big advantage:
Termites don't know that they are being affected until its too late!
Even when mixed and applied to buildings to the Australian Standards for termite control, repellent termiticides will leave gaps in soil that have clay and other materials mixed in. Termites may pass through these gaps into your home. Termidor mixed correctly according to the label has a MUCH better chance of protecting you from termites because of its superior formulation and characteristics regarding termite control treatment.
Fipronil ?The active ingredient:
Fipronil is an insecticide which controls target insects with a single feeding. It is effective in the control of termites because insects serve as carriers of the active ingredient to harbourages and colonies. Even termites from other colonies may act as a ?Trojan horse? by being coated by Fipronil and being let loose to distribute the poison throughout the colony.
They may be accepted or even if they get rejected and fight, the poison will still distribute.
This new active ingredient-Fipronil- provides a unique mode of action. It works through both ingestion and contact knocking down termites that eat or simply touch the bait. Either way, one contaminated white-ant kills many others where they live. or track to. This still achieves colony elimination, but with faster visible results.
Fipronil is non-repellent as well. Termites have been observed standing on deposits of pure Fipronil, with no signs of being repelled.
Low Toxicity to Mammals:
While Fipronil is very effective against target insects, it has low toxicity to non-target animals. A summary of toxicological information follows:
Species Condition Effect Level
Rat Acute Oral LD50 97 mg/kg
Rat Acute Dermal LD50 >2000 mg/kg
Rat Acute Inhalation LD50 0.39 - 0.68 mg/l
Rabbit Acute Dermal LD50 354 mg/kg
Rabbit Skin and eye irritation Non-irritant
Mouse Acute LD50 Oral LD 50 95 mg/kg
Guinea Pig Skin sensitization Non-sensitizer
Fipronil is not volatile, therefore there are not airborne active ingredients released when it is sprayed. This reduces chemical exposure to applicators, customers and the environment in general. That means that you and your family are exposed to very little insecticide, yet it is more than enough to eliminate any current termite infestation AND provide long-lasting protection against any new termite infestation.
It really works much like a termite bait. It uses termites to spread through the colony, and it kills the colony. So really, it's a liquid that works like a bait! In fact, Termidor has been used in more than 800,000 homes in the USA and more than 60,000 homes in Australia. The US Dept of Agriculture - Forestry Service, has tested Termidor for more than 8 years, to date. So far, results show 100% effective termite barrier protection. 100% Control of Termites in 3 Months Or Less! We Guarantee It!

Termites tunnelling in higher concentration treated soil areas abutting the building, are killed outright, within a few hours. Termites tunnelling in the outer reaches of a Termidor (lower concentration) treated soil area, cannot detect the chemical which readily sticks to the termites' body. These termites remain unaffected for a few days, before sudden death occurs.
Based on the USA and Australian field trials and laboratory testing, a treated soil barrier should remain termite control effective for at least 5 years, in most situations, if it is correctly applied at the rate required by the registered label. This means long term protection of a kind not able to be offered by any alternative termite colony baiting system.
Fipronil - a safety orientated product
Safety wise, Termidor as applied to the soil areas abutting a building, is of low hazard to people and pets. Unlike some alternatives, Termidor is odourless; and does not contain solvents or any other substances that may lead to indoor air contamination.
For the environmentally conscious:
Termidor will not harm soil micro-organisms, earthworms or plants. Nor will rainfall or irrigation cause it to leach through the soil. It contains Fipronil classified by regulatory authorities as a low hazard product to humans, dogs and cats.

Termites in Sydney bush areas
The problem areas in metropolitan Sydney, Australia are the Hills District, North Shore, Eastern Suburbs, Northern Beaches, Western Suburbs, St George and Sutherland areas. These locations are plagued termites, mainly because of being close to the bush. The more trees, the more termites, unfortunately. All of these regions are being taken care of by our company, Best Pest Control.
What makes it so unique?
Here are just a few of the revolutionary attributes that set Termidor apart:
The only termite control treatment to eliminate 100% of termites in all tests, in all locations!
Before it was made available to American & Australian homeowners through Termidor Certified Professionals, it was put through some of the toughest efficacy and environmental tests in history. For 9+ years of testing, It has was proven to be 100% effective against subterranean termites, including Formosans and Coptotermes, in even the most challenging situations, climates and environments.
The fastest: 100% termite-free in 3 months
When it comes to getting rid of termites, nothing does the job quicker than Termidor. Within three months of a termite control treatment, your termite problem will be completely eliminated. It's that simple. Termites in Sydney, Australia now have something to worry about!
Advanced undetectable technology
Termidor is made from a revolutionary new non-repellent or ?undetectable? chemical technology treatment. That means termites cannot see, smell, taste or avoid it. Instead they contact, ingest, and share it with other termites. This is in sharp contrast to older liquid termite controls, which rely on repellent barriers that termites can find breaks in or avoid completely. Australia now has another termite protection option with a low toxic solution.
The ?Transfer Effect??
Termites who contact Termidor transfer it to every other termite they in turn contact in a unique process called the ?Transfer Effect.? And because it is engineered to be slow-acting, termites have ample time to spread it throughout their entire termite colony. Termites in Sydney, Australia have a new enemy!
Better than bait?without the wait
Termite baits can take years to control a termite colony. Termidor controls entire populations in three months or less, and gives you 100% protection from the termites' initial contact. The most popular termite baits in Australia, Exterra and Sentricon, cannot offer comparable stand-alone results. Exterra termite baits and Sentricon also have yearly maintenance costs which aren't cheap. Licence and inspection fees with Exterra, for example are something to be considered when weighing up the cost of termite protection for Australian homes.

Subterranean termites are extremely destructive, because they tunnel their way to wooden structures (like your home), into which they burrow to obtain food. Termites all share a virtually insatiable appetite for wood and other cellulose-containing materials. Given enough time, they will feed on the wood until nothing is left but a shell.

Who's Coming to Dinner in Your Neck of the Woods?
A Caste of Hundreds of Thousands
Termites are highly social insects that live in large colonies where populations can reach more than one million. A colony consists of several structurally differentiated forms living together as castes (including reproductives, soldiers, and workers) with different functions in community life.
In the spring, winged reproductives leave the parental nest in swarms to create a new colony. The swarming lasts less than an hour, so it's very likely you'll never even see it. The winged reproductives themselves look quite a bit like flying ants, for which they are often mistaken.
Those ?Ants? Might be Termites
Both ants and termites have two pairs of wings, but ants' wings are different sizes while the termites' wings are all the same size. Also, ants have narrowed waists and elbowed antennae while termites have thick waists and short, straight antennae that resemble strings of beads. Don't be fooled by color or size. Ants can vary in size, and winged termites can be brown or black like ants.
FAQ's
Q. Can it be used for both residential and commercial buildings in Sydney Australia?
A. Yes, Termidor Certified Professionals can treat most any type of structure that is at risk for termite damage, including residential homes, churches, office buildings and schools.
Termite Control Sydney, Australia
We have a need for termite protection that shows that termite baits alone cannot be the best termite treatment in stand-alone options. We recommend these bait systems as an aid in termite control as efficient monitoring systems. After control is gained with Termidor or Premise, why not use either Exterra, Sentricon or Green Termite Baits for your best termite treatment / monitoring system?
Q. How long will it take to complete an application?
A. A residential Termidor application is typically completed by a trained Certified Professional less than a day.
Q. Will it have or leave an odour?
A. No, Termidor is odour-free.
Q. What makes it different from other termite control options, such as bait systems?
A. Termidor utilizes a unique action known as the "Transfer Effect?" to effectively control termite populations up to six times faster than bait systems. And, unlike older liquids, Termidor does not repel termites?termites can't smell, see or feel the insecticide? so they crawl freely through treated areas. When a termite eats or even comes in contact with the insecticide, it unknowingly transfers it back to the colony on its body. Every termite it contacts will transfer Termidor to other termites. Termidor is the only product that will consistently control 100% of termites within three months or less?up to six times faster than bait/ monitoring systems.
Q. Can it be used alongside other termite pest control treatments?
A. Yes. Termidor may be used as the primary termite control protection while other bait systems such as Green termite baits, Exterra or Sentricon act as a monitor. It is not recommended that termite baits be used as stand alone treatments.
Other Termite Pest Control Systems
Termites in bait systems can take from many months to several years to control a colony. That's because many bait systems work by ?recruitment,? in which termites must first discover a bait station and then recruit sufficient colony members to it as well. Only then is the termite control product added to the station. Plus, there's no guarantee termites heading for or already in your home will find the bait stations at all. Termidor starts working immediately and provides 100% control in three months or less.
Q. Can it be used in termite reticulation?
A. Not at the moment, but registration has been applied for by BASF in Australia. See below. This type of termite pest control would ensure protection from termites for the life of the building -if installed and maintained correctly by a reputable company, such as Best Pest Control.
Q. What will a termite control treatment cost?
A. The cost of a termite control treatment varies and largely depends on your particular situation and the treatment plan you and your pest control company agree upon. In the long run, a Termidor termite protection plan generally will cost less than a termite bait system and will provide more effective, longer lasting control. Plan on $AUS2,500 to $5,000 for the average termite treatment in for protection in Sydney, Australia.
