You must have a clear idea of what you want to say, who you are addressing and what action you are going after when you create content for your blog, an article or even an ad. Here's a number of tips to help you keep your content focused and on target.

Keep it on topic.

If you say in your headline or title that you are going to talk about a certain company and then you in no way mention that company in the article or video, your viewer won't find any value in your message and may even get angry with you.

Keep it brief.

Not many people want to spend the time scrolling through lengthy text to read marketing content. For that reason, use only as many words as needed to convey your message and then stop. If you are not adding value or telling some extremely fascinating or entertaining story, no one will continue reading. The most effective approach is to keep what you need to say down to a bare minimum of words.

Keep it simple.

Even in marketing simplicity is beautiful. It is even more distracting the more you elaborate on the content. People's minds can only process a limited amount of information at one time. The key to successful copy is to make sure that one objective rules your content.

Keep it specific.

In keeping with "on topic" and "brief," this point emphasizes that you are driving home a specific message. What specific message or call to action are you trying to create? There should only be one, and it should be clearer than a bell.

Keep it compelling.

The entire reason you are creating content is to compel people to act in response to your call to action. Yet compelling content is easier said than done. Even the command, "keep it compelling" may be a bit vague. By following the points laid out in this article you create compelling content. As you do, you will find that your marketing content is relevant and focused.
