Are Your Home Based Business Building Efforts Affected by Information Overload

Just about everyone gets hit by the information overload bug when starting their own home based business. It all starts when they begin learning about the products, comp plan, and marketing tools provided by their company. Then they learn to work their business and find out it doesn't go as easy as they thought it would and, frankly, are surprised at how few of their friends want to make money from home. many will then start learning to take their business online.

Now, if they already know how to find the power button on a computer (don't laugh because some can't) and get around the Internet they have to learn all kinds of things they never thought they would have to learn. It is amazing how many things there are to learn to run a business online. There is pay-per-click, SEO, social sites, building websites, link building, video marketing, blogging, etc... There is no way to even list everything one could learn about marketing online. And, there are new things coming out every day.

There are also many products that are produced by the top marketers online explaining their personal systems and methods. One only has to look around to find people that promote those top marketers products to figure out what some of the best ones are.

This information overload phenomenon is a natural thing in that people will become interested in something like a hobby and start searching for everything they can find about it. They are thinking about it so much that it starts to appear everywhere.

There are laws of nature that come into play also. There is one called the Law of Attraction that says if you continuously think about something it will be drawn to you and you to it.

With Internet marketing and the accessibility of information, information overload in this industry is never going to stop and, in fact, is only going to get worse.

However there are some things you can do to get past this problem. First, realize that all those things you want to learn about are just things and none of them really matter, so relax. Then you need to understand the only thing that matters and the only thing that really works in this industry is the simple 3 step process that EVERY successful marketer uses online, First; Build a list, Second; Build a relationship with the list, Third; Help those on the list with ideas, products and services that work in business building.

Another thing to understand is that there are only two things you need to know to be successful in this industry. Those two things are copywriting and driving traffic. You only NEED to learn how to drive traffic from one source and you should pick one that you are passionate about and stick with it until you are a master at it. And learn everything you can about copywriting because that one skill will be used in any and all strategies you ever implement. It is how you will get people to come to know, like, and trust you.

One other thing you can do is to adopt a habit that John D. Rockefeller used to build his fortune. Make a list of the 5 most important tasks to do the next day before going to bed at night. Not broad concepts but specific tasks that are important to building your business like writing 5 pages of an eBook or filming a certain video.

Then, the next day you know what you need to get done and you don't go to bed before they are done. You don't check emails or watch TV or do anything else until your 5 tasks are finished. It will be like laying bricks on a house and if you do this every day you will be surprised what you get accomplished in 30 days.
