Are You Getting Enough Leads For Your Home Based Business

One of the main reasons for failure in the direct sales, home based, or network marketing business is lack of interested leads. Almost everyone starts out with a limited personal contact list called their "warm list' by their sponsor.

They are told to use a memory jogger and write down every name they can remember from as far back as kindergarten. The longer the list the better it is. Some people start out and part of the way through start thinking they will never find phone numbers for all these people.

People move away, or change their names, or even die. Also, some could be very successful by now and would never join you in a home based business.

This would be a very strange and daunting chore and there could be people on the list that are total losers and may even be in prison. A better use of your time would be to start with your chicken list.

You know, the ones you know that are already successful and you think would never want to join you in a home based business. If you made a list of the top ten to fifteen people you know that are the most successful and called them and asked them if they would be willing to give you some advice about a new business venture you are in that would be the best start for your business.

Just ask them to let you mail them the information and if you could follow up after they have had a chance to review it. Nearly all of them will be more than happy you called for advice and will gladly check out the business and tell you what they think.

If it is a DVD or CD and it has the best information about your company it would be better and more consistent than anything you could tell them and if it is good they will see that and want to join too. So most people's chicken list or the ones that seem like they would be tough to sell the opportunity to are really the first people you should try to recruit.

You are showing your respect for them and informing them you value their opinion when you ask for their advice like this. Also if there is a problem with the business they will find it and tell you which could save you some time and money.

Your next step would be to imagine you found a gold mine that had more gold in it the more you were able to dig out. Who would you most want to help or share your gold mine with? Who do you care about the most that you would want to help?

That is what you have when you join network marketing, MLM, direct sales or any other home based business. You have a gold mine and a tremendous opportunity to share with your closest friends and with those who you respect and look up to you the most.

There really is no middle ground in this industry. You have to go all out or get out because anything less than full steam ahead is a waste of time. But obviously, there will not be many names on your list if it starts with your chicken list and ends with those you care the most about. That means you will have to do some serious work if you are to succeed.

I mean you have to give up some of the things you are doing and put some serious time into it if you are not going to fail. You have to learn how to conquer the Internet. You will not be able to succeed by trying to call every family member, old school mate, past teacher, mailman, neighbor, client, coworker etc... It just will not work that way.

Those people are not your prospects. They did not come to you looking for your opportunity or product. There is only one place for you to find your unlimited and never-ending list of prospects and that is the Internet.

But you cannot do it by setting up a website and joining the social sites and promoting your company to all the contacts you can make online. There are many people trying to do these same things online and it does not work.

These are basically the same tactics as old school methods that a lot of people try offline and 97% of those using these tactics will fail. This is a fact not a prediction. The numbers are well known.

But, with proper marketing training, you can learn to produce an army of ads and sites that promote you as a leader with solutions and a system that is effective. This is the solution to struggling to be successful marketing a home based business.

If you learn how to position yourself where your target market can find you online you move from being a pest that chases everything that moves and breathes to a leader that knows how to help people get what they are after.

Others will want to join you if you become someone of value. People want to join leaders because they know a leader can help them succeed. To become a leader all you have to do is decide you will be one because it is a decision not a birthright. People do not join followers so if you are to succeed you will have to become a leader.
