Too many of us cling on to the notion that a good skincare regimen is good at preventing aging skin. That helps but, too often what you are using determines the outcome, so why is that and what else could you use?

Well we should have a quick look at what is at the root of the signs of aging skin, and it relies on two things really. The first is internal and depends on the genes you inherited and the second external, due to environmental factors like sun exposure.

So what are the signs? In the first example we are really referring to the natural aging process, and at about your late 20's the collagen you produce begins to tail off and loses some of its elasticity. Other things to look out for are:

Fine wrinkles

Sagging skin

Dry, itching skin

Transparent and thin skin

In the second, externally a lot can be attributed to the suns exposure and also:

Gravity

Smoking

Your sleeping position.

Here we can actually do one or two things to somehow minimize any effects and help preventing aging skin, by stopping smoking and taking a common sense approach when we're outside. This includes wearing the right types of clothes, applying the correct suncream and avoiding the tanning salon.


In conjunction with much of the above we can also begin to use much better products, that have been formulated to give you a helping hand in fighting the signs of aging, and keeping youthful looking skin.
