Oftentimes, you would see a link in blue included in websites and appears to be underlined on a webpage. This is called "anchor text" and it is a link that is directed to another page either inside the same website or on a different site. Anchor text is something that needs to be learned and understand as well.
The best benefit that an anchor text can give is to provide a double usage from your keywords. It is usually read by a search engine which sees the link embedded in the text. The search engine crawler will then get an idea of what your website is all about.
As they say, there is always an exception to the rule. SEO applies the same with anchor text and it is doing over-optimization of your site through it. This can cause
search engine to reduce your ranking or gets you blocked from the search engine results at worse. Over-optimization is when all the anchor text on your site is the same as your keywords and there is no disparity or it does not at all apply to any related terms in the anchor text.
Another important aspect of anchor text is the links that are actually entrenched in the keywords or phrases used on the webpage. They are similarly important as the text which they are anchored. A search engine crawler will follow these links to crawl your site. If it directs to a site that is related then you automatically get a good ranking from search engine results.
Anchor text may just seem entirely irrelevant to keywords but the fact is, it is relative. When used appropriately in combination with your keywords, anchor text will greatly benefit your site in terms of
search engine rankings.
