If you decide to live a healthy lifestyle, does that mean its all tofu and vitamin water from here on out ? Well, for me, I think life is all about moderation. Too much of any one thing can be dangerous. So having said that, I decided to write an article about fitting alcohol into a healthy way of life.

Being raised by an Italian family, Wine has always been a part of the dinner table. Long have Italians enjoyed a glass with dinner. Not in excess, but a glass or two with a meal. And now after research on the topic, many are following this way of life as studies are showing a glass of red wine in good for your heart and blood. In fact, health supplements are available providing Resveratrol, the active ingredient coming from the skin of red grapes providing a variety of health benefits including anti-cancer, antiviral, neuroprotective, anti-aging, anti-inflammatory and life-prolonging. While the supplements seem to fit in a healthy lifestyle, I will stay true to my heritage and drink a glass of wine; it's a bit more fun that way.

I will admit though, that sometimes wine isn't always appropriate. So is there another way to have a drink and still maintain a healthy balance. Well, alcohol is a beverage that contains many varieties and wine is just one. When thinking about this, a bit of common sense will come in handy. Jack on the rocks, or even a rum and coke aren't exactly your best options. One drink won't be too dangerous, but with drinks that are pure or near pure alcohol, the scales can quickly tip.

So if you want a drink, think tropical, think juice, think mixtures with one shot per glass. At least this way you will get a bit more juice to help flush your body of the alcohol, and dilute the strength; letting you have a good time, while maintaining your health. Like I said, I think moderation is the key. A dink or two can help you relax, and red wine can even be positive for your heart and blood.

Just because you care about your body, doesn't mean your drinking days are done. Keep it in check; a glass a wine and a colorful drink might be the best options for the night.
