Affiliate Marketing gives you the opportunity to earn a significant amount of money from small and large businesses. Most companies now offer an affiliate program. So why not get your piece of the pie? These affiliate marketing programs are great and require little effort to generate this income, the main things that are required are a mailing list and website. You can earn an extra income by simply providing a banner on your website that will help you earn money when your visitors make a purchase from that link. No one loses when you are participating in an affiliate program. While you are driving traffic to the company or product developers site, you are also making a commission from any sales you generate for them.

Affiliate marketing is a way for companies and/or marketers to get their product out there and increases their number of visitors. It only makes sense that a company or marketer will offer an affiliate program to increase their income.

Affiliate marketing has hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions of people participating in affiliate programs. Simply because they see the true potential of earnings. The industry continues to grow and I can only foresee even larger opportunities in the future.

Research shows that an affiliate can earn as much as 50% or less from all the money generated by them for promoting that business, product or service. This type of income can be generated for the lifetime of the site. So you can be creative and think of different ways to provide that site with traffic which in turn, will earn you money.

The thing that I find most appealing is that there is no "catch". Meaning, you don't have to have a minimum requirement in order to become an affiliate for "most" companies and or product creators, no strings attached, or any tricks. However, nowadays, some people are asking that you fill out an affiliate request form in order to be given the opportunity to earn endless amounts of money. Because affiliate marketing is so profitable and easy, millions of people are turning to affiliate marketing to make their online income. Many people have even retired from working in order to focus on their affiliate marketing business.

Now I am going to share what I want to call, "affiliate marketing survival tips"

Ok, so you've chosen the affiliate programs you want to join. Maybe they're larger companies, maybe they are just like you. Working from their home and creating their own products and services. You now know how you're going to promote their product, you've selected a banner that you're going to use on your site, or maybe you finished queuing up a few emails in your auto responder for them to go out.

Regardless, of what you have decided, I am sure you will come across a few challenges regarding your marketing strategies. You might be at a stage where you're thinking..."what's wrong? What am I not doing?" Have no fear, I have provided you with some challenges you may come across that will effect your income and your leads.

Cookies:

Most merchants (aka product creators) use cookies to track how many people you have referred to their site. Most times, it takes visitors two or 3 or even five visits before they make a purchase. cookies will tag your referrals with your ID so regardless if they purchase on the first visit or the fiftieth, you'll be the one who will make a commission off of it.

A question you may want to ask is how long does the cookie ID stay in the visitors computer? Some can lost only for their first visit, while some will last for over a year. It all depends on the merchant and this will vary. Some visitors will delete their cookies on a regular basis or may even have cookie blocking software. In this case, you can't control that and there's nothing you can do about it. It's also important to find out which cookie sticks. For example, if you have a visitor that is on three different mailing list, from three different marketers and they are all promoting the same product; will the first cookie stick or will the last?

If it's the last cookie, many marketers choose to email daily or the last day of a pre-launch. While if its the first cookie, marketers are eager to be the first to hit potential customers inbox's.

Payment methods:

A lot of merchants offer multiple payment methods. This is great for customers yet may not be so great for the affiliates. Make sure before you decide to advertise their site or service that you look at their site carefully.

Arrangements and monitoring them:

Most merchants will come across challenges with their affiliate software at some point. Therefore, you may want to check their sites for any changes that they make and make sure that it doesn't effect your income which you generate from their site.
