OK, now you have decided to start marketing online, personally I think that is an amazing idea. One of the simplest and most profitable ways to get started is affiliate marketing. If you have the will to do quite a bit of easy work, affiliate programs can provide a very nice income. Now look, you don't need a marketing degree or anything of that nature. The main ingredient to your success is a willing mind. Toss in a bit of focus, dedication and spice it up with a healthy serving of enthusiasm, you now have the recipe for success.
1. Affiliate programs are very easy businesses to get started online.
No matter what you want to begin, it never hurts to do learn the ropes. The best part about that is that you can learn from other people's mistakes rather than making your own. Why waste time and money on things that do not work? Learning from someone who is already successful and can teach, can save you a bit of both, plus you know what they say "two heads are better than one". You can often pickup tips that you may not have otherwise thought of. A great place to evaluate training programs is to look at what people who have used the program are saying on some of the popular internet marketing forums. One of the best forums I have found is the Warrior Forum
.
2. Affiliate programs can be lucrative.
There are some affiliates that have been dubbed "Super Affiliates". They make an amazing income from affiliate programs. These programs give you the opportunity to sell another company's products and services. You earn a commission on every sale or lead you funnel to the company's website. You don't necessarily have to build a web site or process a single transaction (although I recommend having your own capture page, which I will cover in a subsequent post) . Your sole job is to funnel traffic to a coded link, known as your affiliate link.
3. Research the popularity of things that interest you.
You want to determine if other people are buying that product or serviced. There are many free sources available for finding this information. One of my favorites is Google Adwords
. After you have determined an area that you are interested in, type the subject along with 'affiliate program' into your search bar, hit enter and see which programs have services or products for that area. You can also use an affiliate program directory. The one I use most is Clickbank.com .
4. Check the terms.
After you have found a program that looks like a winner to you, you need to check the terms of the program. Ensure that the payouts are not based on a high commission earning or you may never see your money (you don't have to worry about that with Clickbank.com ). Also try to choose programs with high commission rates, or that pays on a residual basis. You will often find that ebooks and downloadable software have the highest rates as there is no physical product to make or ship. Once you have found a product that is satisfactory, go ahead and sign up (I recommend you promote products that you have tried and like).
5. Drive traffic.
One of the reasons that affiliate programs are so great for beginners is that you only need to focus on marketing. A great number of affiliate programs have instructions on how to market. They also give you tools such as banners, feeds and more. You can find loads of free information on marketing to include writing articles, creating pay-per-click campaigns, commenting in online forums etc.
One of the reasons many would-be online marketers have limited success is that they lack knowledge and focus. They run from one strategy to the next, becoming a jack of all trades and master of none. As an affiliate marketer you have to decrease the learning curve and master the skills one at a time. As I mentioned before the best way to do so is to get trained by those who are successful in the field. This saves you both time and money, and who doesn't want to do that?
