If you are considering an anesthetic procedure (Botox, laser treatments, dermabrasion, etc.) then I would recommend a medical facility with the experience of a Medical Doctor who has special training and skills combining your medical status with a true concern of your overall appearance. A Dermatologist is a skin pathologist concerned with diseases of the skin. A physician who follows the regulations of your insurance company often may wish to do a biopsy. If the biopsy is positive, they usually get paid to remove the lesion. A biopsy can and often causes scarring. However, most insurance companies only pay for one negative lesion per year, and you may have many lesions. If the lesion is positive, they will usually pay for another biopsy. Without a biopsy, many insurance companies will not pay for the lesion removal.

Your doctor, like you, probably will not want to work for free. Your insurance company may consider these additional lesions “cosmetic.” You may have a scar and you may have an additional problem of not getting all of the unsightly pathology you wish to be removed to your aesthetic wishes. Cosmetics are make-up applications applied to cover up the problem for the day, but the one day you decide to go swimming, everyone now sees the problems.

Aesthetics is the modern and precise medical consideration and medical procedures with little or no scarring in mind. It has your health prevention and the improvement of your specific and overall appearance, and decreasing the look of your apparent age of primary importance. We leave your skin with little or no imperfections, and removal of any and all of the lesions that were bothering you so much in the first place. Major problems can have simple solutions from a simple facial wash to advanced laser techniques.

The physician should always be concerned for your health and if you have a true significant pathology, sending it the lesion for biopsy. However, this is not always true of most sun damage, wrinkles, moles, lines, warts, crow’s feet, drooping chin, imperfections, enlarged pores, acne scars, smoker’s lines, nose droop, rosacea, mouth droop, frown lines, seborrheic keratosis, hyper- pigmentation, eyebrow droop, melasma---just to name a few. These are sometimes (and often) not covered by insurance which present constraints to your dermatologist. Often because of your insurance coverage it is difficult for you to understand why sometimes all of your lesions are not aesthetically addressed by your doctor.

The physician’s interest should be to have you appearing younger, more energetic, and healthier than ever. Lesions of the face, neck, chest, lips, thighs, feet, hands, and back are what the typical aesthetician’s office should be able to professionally treat. Leg veins should no longer be embarrassing when exposed wearing certain clothing. Make no mistake---if you go to the butcher shop and ask them what you should have for dinner, chances are it will be steak. If you go to a plastic surgeon, it probably could be surgery. You might have to do many consults and with a series of progressive surgeries, well planned, approximately every 1-3 years. You’re under general anesthesia when you wake up and you’ve still got what you’ve got along with maybe 1-3 weeks of recovery down-time with facial swelling and bruises.

One of the beauties of Aesthetics Medicine is that many of the problems often addressed with surgery, scalpels, and general anesthesia often are now able to be done with more modern state-of-the-art lasers, quality fillers, skin relaxants, broad based light, pigment fragmentation, and many other modern and safer techniques and better results and control. These usually are more cost friendly and have less down- time. You often can have these done in a lunch-time procedure that slowly progressively or immediately gives you great results. Your results can go slowly step by step or if you desire or more quickly usually without the painful swelling and bruising and the recovery down time of surgery. You will be able to go back to normal routine often the same day. You can make changes, adjust, add or decrease areas or address problems of your specific wishes as to exactly how you want them often without any down-time.

Problems often addressed only with some or no solutions can now be completely solved. The person offering treatment to you should address each and every problem in their office quickly or let you go home and consider the whole problem and/or possibilities. Some of the problems or all aspects of the problem can be immediately addressed right at the time of the visit. Many things in aesthetics today were only able to be partially remedied or treated with major surgery in the past. This is no longer true---The treatments of the 21st century are now easier, simpler, less risky, and with often better results.

Welcome to the 21st century! Aesthetics procedures: When you want, what you want, how much you want, and how you want them. We suggest solutions and you control the treatment.
