Buying or selling something, anything, is a big decision. As a buyer, you could be buying something you don't need. As a seller, you could be selling something you might need later on. But if you are already sure about these things, then the issue becomes whether you're getting something worth the same value in return.

This is where trading brokers come in.

A trading broker is a person who mediates a trade between the buyer and the seller. The trading broker could also act as either buyer or seller, in which he becomes the principal party to the deal.

Take note the term trading broker doesn't only refer to an individual. It is also used to refer to a company specializing in brokerage services.

Trading broker is also a general term, meaning it encompasses several other different types of trading brokers, such as stock trading broker, currency trading broker or Forex trading broker, commodity trading broker, mortgage broker, among other things. Each type of trading broker performs an important role in the development and operations of its respective market.

For example, currency trading brokers are professional brokers who buy and sell contracts in the currency exchange market. Also known as foreign exchange market, it is the most liquid and largest financial markets in the world. Stock trading brokers don't operate in this market. Currency trading brokers are the highly trained and regulated professionals that swim in this swimming pool.

Commodity trading broker, on the other hand, is a collective term used to refer to specific types of brokers including Introducing Broker (IB), Commodity Pool Operator (CPO), Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA), Floor Broker, and Associated Person (AP).

Licensure is essential in the life of trading broker. In the US, the National Futures Association provides licenses to individuals working under the profession. Similar regulatory boards are set up in other countries around the world.
