My friend, Jenny, bought the Magic Jack to plug into her computer. The cost of Magic Jack was under $40, and the there is no additional charge for the first year, and then $19 for the next year. I asked her to give it a whirl and tell me how it went.
I asked her some questions, and this is how the interview

CC: Thank you, for your time. Please tell my readers how you learned about Magic Jack.
I saw an infomercial and decided that it was worth a try, since Magic Jack is offered as a free trial.
Magic Jack ReviewMagic Jack works through my computer. I plugged my Magic Jack into my USB port, it downlpaded the software, and make it work better. Every morning when I turn my computer on the Magic Jack uploads and activates it.
CC: Please tell me how you like using the Magic Jack, now that you have used it for a month.
Overall, its been pretty good. It tracks and arranges my calls, and it lets me know who called and what number they called from. I really like that feature. It's pretty good; it's a lot better than the other system we had. I have no complaints at all concerning the Magic Jack.
You have to have high speed Internet.
As far as I know it works on Mac computers, as well as Windows XP, and Windows Vista.
CC: Do you have to have a special phone to use the Magic Jack?
No, you can use a regular cordless phone if you like, and you can also use a headset. I have both. It comes with instructions on how to connect a cordless phone. I didn't have any problems hooking up. In just a few minutes I was able to use my new calling system.
