Looking for ways to save money? Trying to make each and every dollar go a little further? Is your budget tight, and you need to find ways to cut costs? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then read on. This article presents three (3) easy ways you can save money on food by doing some simple things in your kitchen.

(1) Stock up and freeze. Many busy people find that making a fresh lunch every day is a hassle, so they opt for frozen pre-packaged meals or entrees. These pre-made meals can be thrown in the microwave for a few minutes for a piping hot, ready to eat, delicious meal.
Don't buy your frozen meals once per week; you'll probably end up spending too much that way. Wait for your favorite brand of frozen meals to go on sale, and then buy up enough for several weeks and stock them in your freezer. Often these meals can be purchased at a significant discount on sale, and you will save money when you stock up on them at the sale price.

(2) Clear out the fridge. This is directly opposite stocking up the freezer, but here we're talking about your refrigerator. If you're like most people, you probably have lots of left-overs in your fridge. Sometimes you don't get around to the left-overs or you just plain forget about them, and before you know it, the food spoils and must be thrown away.

One way you can avoid food loss like this is to clear out your refrigerator on a regular basis. Depending on the amount of leftovers you have, you may decide to clear your fridge once per month, or even once per week. Try to use up all of the leftovers in your refrigerator for a meal or two. You may have an eclectic assortment of food items, but have fun and try to be creative in putting together a meal. You might be surprised at how well different foods can complement each other. By clearing out your fridge, you will save food that would have otherwise gone to waste, and you will save money by having to buy a little less food for the week.

(3) Make Soup out of the leftovers. Another thing you can do with leftovers in the refrigerator is to make soup out of it. Although some things may not be the best soup ingredients, there are many leftover items that are. Meats, vegetables, noodles, beans, potatoes, and rice, to name a few, are perfect for throwing in a soup pot and making delicious soups. You may need to add some soup stock or broth, and you may need to supplement the leftovers with additional ingredients (onions, garlic, spices, etc.) but what you clear out of the fridge will provide most of what you need for the soup.
