You would be better off trying to drive traffic through free means such as article marketing or perhaps creating videos unless you know what you are doing.

As long as you start off on the right track and continue to learn, you can make money with affiliate marketing. Be careful not to jump from program to program as this will make you extremely unprofitable and leave you feeling frustrated. Pick a good program, pick a method of driving traffic to that program and then wait until you see the results.
