10 Steps to Say Goodbye to Heartburn

I've often been asked by my clients as to the cause of and remedy for heartburn.

From my research, heartburn is caused by the relaxation of the cardio-esophageal sphincter, allowing stomach acid to be regurgitated into the esophagus. I've discovered 10 simple but highly effective methods for preventing the awful symptoms of heartburn.

1. Eat 4-6 times a day instead of 3 meals a day

The smaller the meals the easier it will be for digestion to take place.

2. Avoid getting to full

3. Drink liquids between meals if you feel to full

4. Avoid greasy, highly seasoned food and coffee and cigarettes

Since they delay gastric emptying and increase production of acidity

5. Wear clothing that is loose around the waist

Heartburn is also very stress related and adequate methods to relieve stress on the GI tract are necessary. Heartburn is also most noticeable when lying down or bending over. Some examples to relieve this stress are:

6. Do not lie down immediately after a meal

7. Sleep and rest with your head slightly elevated

8. Sip water, milk or juice when you have heartburn

9. Take a walk, sit up, or sit quietly and breathe deeply when you have heartburn

10. If antacids are used, calcium in the antacid may interfere with iron absorption.

To minimize this problem, take antacid on an empty stomach and at a different time than iron.

After applying these methods you will be free ofheartburn and finally get back to living your life. Because what youwill gain will be peace of mind and ease in your health. Remember to take one step at a time and not to do so many changes all at once.
